Hijacked is Ooh! Media's news and opinion platform for students, by students. We were approached to give this flagship student advertising platform a fresh online presence. The Hijacked site is connected with Ooh!’s digital screen network in universities across the country.
Initially our brief was limited to the website design, however through a close working relationship with Ooh! Media we gave the brand identity a little refresh to bring it in line with the new look & feel.
The site design required an approach that could be extended beyond the initial website to the entire digital screen network. With this in mind, we focused on creating a slick design with simple graphic elements that could be translated across the different digital platforms. We introduced a colour based way finding system allowing users to quickly identify content of interest.
With the majority of Hijacked’s student audience accessing the site from mobile devices, our primary focus for the design process was getting the mobile designs perfected.
Our process began with sketching wireframes for the mobile site, before translating these across tablet and then desktop. Having the client involved throughout the process providing feedback with each iteration of the wireframes, meant the project moved forward very quickly.
Working through the remaining wireframes, we built mobile and desktop prototypes for Ooh! Media to test usability and refine the feedback on advertising spaces.
Building writer profiles
As a platform for students to promote their writing skills, the design included prominent author profile links, keeping them clearly identified with their work.

With a mix of sponsored content and traditional online advertising it was important to get advertisers excited early stage. As the project evolved we presented more integrated examples of advertising using large background images and parallaxing graphics.
